“Young Farmers”- Sustainable Education

The Young Farmers programme was created by The Esimaje Foundation. It is a tool for young people to see agriculture as a viable means to earn an income. It provides an innovative programme via the use of aquaponics or greenhouse systems. It introduces the concept of agribusiness and entrepreneurship to the student which provides holistic development for the child. This knowledge will provide students with enough agricultural know-how that they can establish their own agricultural systems in their community. This therefore benefitting the communities both financially and socially .The club also provides a holistic method of education by providing alternative means of learning for the students. Additional the club provides a sense of purpose, an increase in self-confidence, self-esteem, as the students nurture and grow the product. Children who have increased interest also have a reduced risk of students dropping out of school i.e increases graduation rates.
