Ms. Valerie Wilson is a trained Immunologist and public health professional who has provided leadership and technical advisory services to Ministries of Health, private and public sector laboratories and staff in 23 countries within the Caribbean region, through her work at the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC) from 1990 to 2007, and from 2008 at the Caribbean Med Labs Foundation.
Ms. Wilson has extensive experience working with organizations within the Caribbean, particularly in the areas of laboratory management, quality improvement and strategic management. She has been involved in a leadership role in raising awareness of governments and laboratories in the Caribbean region with respect to the need for medical laboratory standards and quality management systems, and for regulation of medical laboratories.
She has also been involved as a volunteer with the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute and American Society for Microbiology in providing assistance to laboratories working towards accreditation internationally. Ms. Wilson is Director and founding partner of Creative Quality Associates (Caribbean) Limited (CQA). She has played a key role in supporting CARICOM in her capacity as a consultant, in the design and development of the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA).
